Block 7: Air Pressure and Wind

Blow, Wind, Blow

From gentle breezes to devastating hurricanes, wind can create peaceful feelings or horrifying experiences.

When you listen to or watch a weather report the prediction of rain, snow and temperature are generally the most noticeable. Recognizing extreme differences in air pressure in different regions might escape your awareness, but those differences can create a change in wind intensity and direction.

As you study this unit, try paying attention to the various wind directions and speeds throughout the day.
